GSTR-2B JSON to Excel

Drop in the file the portal gave you — the .json or the .zip it arrives in — and get a workbook with a sheet per section. No account, no e-mail address, nothing to install.

Your file is uploaded to our server, converted and discarded — it is never written to our database and no copy is kept. We do not ask who you are, so there is nothing to sign in to and nothing to delete afterwards. Up to 8 MB and 20 files an hour; a signed-in account has neither limit.

What you get

One sheet per section, and only for the sections your file actually contains. A month with no ISD credit gets no ISD sheet.

B2B

B2B and its amendments

Invoice-level B2B, a B2B Line Items sheet with the rate-wise breakup, and a supplier-wise B2B (Summary). Amendments land in B2BA with their own line items.

CDN

Credit and debit notes

CDNR, CDNR Line Items and CDNR (Summary), with amended notes in CDNRA.

ISD

ISD and imports

ISD and ISDA for distributed credit, and IMPG for import bills of entry with the port code and taxable value.

GST

The supplier detail intact

Every row carries the supplier GSTIN, trade name, the period the supplier filed for and the filing date — the columns you need to chase a missing invoice, not just the tax figures.

It reads the older files too

The portal changed the shape of its own JSON between years. In the current vintage a document states its taxes one way; in the FY 2022-23 files the line items sit under a different key with different names for the same four taxes.

A reader that knows only the current shape does not fail on an older file — it converts it with every rupee column reading 0.00, invoice headers and supplier names intact, which is the kind of wrong answer nobody notices. This converter reads both shapes, and there is a test pinned to a real year of returns that goes red if either one stops working.

Questions

Do I need to unzip the download first?
No. The portal hands the return over as a zip containing one JSON, and the converter opens it for you. A loose .json works equally well.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. The file is converted in memory and in a temporary folder that is removed before the download reaches you. No row is written to our database — the endpoint has no database connection at all. We do not ask for your GSTIN, and the file carrying it is gone by the time the workbook reaches you, so there is nothing for us to keep and nothing for you to come back and delete.
Can I convert GSTR-1 or GSTR-2A here?
Not on this page — it will tell you if you pick the wrong file from the folder rather than quietly handing back an empty workbook. The GSTR-1, GSTR-2A and Tally converters are inside the app, along with the reconciliation the converters exist to feed.
Why is there a limit of 20 files an hour?
Because the page is open to anyone and the server also runs the product. Twenty covers a full financial year with room for re-downloads. A free account removes the limit.
What if my file is bigger than 8 MB?
A monthly GSTR-2B is normally well under a megabyte, so a file that size is usually a whole year saved together. Convert it one return period at a time.

The workbook is the easy half

Converting the file tells you what is in your GSTR-2B. It does not tell you what is missing from it. The app matches the 2B against your purchase register invoice by invoice, separates a supplier who filed late from one who never filed, and carries the answer through to GSTR-9.
